Day 282 – God’s Got Us Covered!

Aha, another timely passage!

… do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7 ESV)

Well, it’s one step forward, two steps back in our dialysis saga. I am handling it better, but DH is STILL leaking fluid from the catheter in his belly (8 weeks after the surgery). This is not good. Especially since tomorrow night he is going on a machine (at home) that will dialyze him all night through that very catheter.

I envision a bedroom flood of epic proportions.

Or something like that.

At least DH walked across a room today AND seems more in his right mind.  By which I mean, he agrees with my way of doing things more often.

Back to today’s verse. If you recall, several days ago I mentioned in a  post that God was telling me, “I’ve got you covered.” I remind myself of that every day. God’s got it all worked out.  And I remember Jesus comforting us in the Sermon on the Mount:

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:26-27, 34 ESV)

My job is to trust God with tomorrow. And to take it one day at a time. God has me covered.  God has US covered.

And when that anxiety rises within – what does Paul advise the Philippians?

  • Pray
  • Supplicate (beg?!)
  • Thank God (for the exact circumstances which might easily give way to anxiety)

If I do these things, my heart will rest in God’s sovereign care and my mind will focus on the truth: God’s got us covered.

Even if it’s with water from a catheter leak for a while!
