Wondered what I’d ponder tonight til I got to the last two verses of my last reading.

I’m always interested in how Jesus and Paul prayed. It seems we should model our prayers after theirs. And here’s another great prayer from Paul and Timothy:
That is why we always pray for you [Thessalonians], asking our God to help you live the kind of life he called you to live. We pray that with his power God will help you do the good things you want and perform the works that come from your faith.
We pray all this so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will have glory in you, and you will have glory in him. That glory comes from the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ 1 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NCV
This is another great way to pray for ourselves and our friends, that we would live the life:
- God wants us to live
- We want to live
- Consistent with our faith and our new nature
It’s three sides to the same coin… Or three sides to the same dice… Oh, you get the point.
Why do we pray this way? So that through our lives, glory
- Goes to Jesus
- Is shared by us
- Comes from Grace
I really do need to start each day thinking about this: how can I live in such a way that the glory goes to Jesus.
Sometimes it’s just all I can do to get everything done that needs to be done.
Without erupting.
Lord: Help me rise above getting through. Help me live the life You want me to live so that Your Son gets the glory. Amen
