I’m Longing for a Holiday at Sea. Those are my daughters you see above, enjoying a holiday at sea. I also have a husband. And two dogs.
Why you see Day 1, Day 2, etc., at the start of each post
I committed back in January to blog daily on the passages of Scripture I’m reading in my one-year plan. I did this not so much to inform you, dear reader, but to hold myself accountable to stay in the Bible, to have daily devotions. I started this effort with a post entitled “Jesus Hung Up.” My daily devotions are sort of like a roto-dial. If I keep at it, I believe Jesus will answer. So far, so good. I list the daily Scripture passages at the bottom of each post, FYI.
What this blog is about in general
Regarding this blog in general, it’s been about my spiritual walk (which is why I keep it anon, so I can say whatever I want about whomever!). It’s about what I’m learning in pursuit of the Holiday at Sea. This CS Lewis quote sheds light on the blog title:
… it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
